Community Helping Place

The Community Helping Place Needs Volunteers!!

Volunteer Volunteers are needed to help staff the CHP Thrift Store. If you have a love of service, enjoy making a difference in the lives of others and have three hours to spare per week, we’d love to talk to you !!

Our Thrift Store provides clothing, household goods and furniture to those in need through a voucher system from NOA, Red Cross, Family Connections, Department of Family and Children’s Services, or through our own Client Assistance Program. Other individuals may purchase these same items at generously discounted prices. Proceeds from these sales go to the CHP operating account and are used to pay operational expenses and insure our other programs remain viable.

The Clothing and Furniture Stores are open:

Monday – Friday 10:00AM – 4:00 PM
and
Saturday 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Volunteers are scheduled to work a specific day of the week (Mon.-Fri.), on one of the three-hour shifts:

from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
or
from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM

On Saturday there is only one shift, from 10:00AM to 1:00PM

We need to staff two volunteers per store (Clothing and Furniture) for each of the shifts, as well as maintain a "substitute" list. We also need a list of volunteers available that can donate their time to help move furniture, load the van, or haul items to the landfill.

If you are available to assist our efforts in helping those in need in our community, please contact the Thrift Store: 706-867-1885 or e-mail our office:
